Kaabong: Stolen Firearm Linked to Slain Officer is Recovered

The collaborative efforts of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) and the Police have resulted in the successful recovery of the firearm belonging to slain Police Constable Morris Ocen. The sub-machine gun, registered as UG POL 566503651-56725, along with 60 rounds of live ammunition, was retrieved after the apprehension of two suspects on Sunday, January 14, 2024.

Mike Longole, the Karamoja Police region spokesperson, confirmed the success of the operation, stating, “We managed to recover our gun and arrested two suspects.” The arrested individuals, identified as Lomuria Lochomin and Lokol Loita, are residents of Morudukae West village, Kalapata parish, Moroto district.




Longole revealed that the suspects are currently in police custody in connection with the murder and robbery of the firearm. Following the completion of investigations, the pair will be brought to court. The joint forces executed a cordon and search operation on Sunday in the mentioned villages, leading to the arrest of the prime suspects. Subsequently, the suspects guided the forces to the location where the stolen gun had been concealed.




As the operation continues, Longole pledged to provide more details and emphasized the ongoing efforts to locate and recover additional weapons in illegal possession within the Karamoja region.
