Byamukama Libino, Kabale – Local leaders in Kibuga Sub County, Ndorwa West, Kabale District, are calling for a secondary school in their area, citing a government policy that mandates secondary schools in every sub-county.

The leaders highlighted their challenges on June 17, 2024, during a piglet distribution event by Kabale District Woman MP, Hon. Catherine Atwakiire Ndamira, in Rutare, Kibuga, and Karujanjanga parishes.

According to LC3 Chairman, Mr. Kamugisha Vincent, the lack of a secondary school forces students to trek long distances to nearby schools, including St. Barnabas Karujanga in Katuna Town Council and Rukore High School.

Female Councilor Praise Ampere, representing Katuna Town Council and Kibuga Sub County, noted that the absence of a secondary school has disrupted education in the area. She also highlighted the presence of unemployed graduate teachers who could have been employed if a secondary school existed.

In response, Kabale District Woman MP, Hon. Catherine Ndamira Atwakiire, pledged to follow up on the issue.

Kibuga Sub County, which was carved out of Rubaya Sub County in 2021, faces this challenge, and leaders are eager to find a solution.
