LAMWO – The Lamwo District Security Committee has decided to reshuffle police officers stationed at the Lukung East Police Post in response to a recent increase in crime.

For the past three weeks, the Sub County has experienced a worrying rise in criminal activities, including murder, rape, arson, and break-ins of shops and houses. These incidents have caused significant concern among local residents and authorities.

The decision to reshuffle the police force was made to address these issues more effectively. The reshuffle aims to bring in fresh officers who can better handle the current challenges and restore order in the area.

District Police Commander, Superintendent Emmanuel Turyagyenda, emphasized the need for immediate action. “We have seen a significant increase in crime, and it is clear that changes are needed to improve the security situation in Lukung East. This reshuffle will help us bring in officers who are better equipped to tackle these crimes,” he said.

The local community has expressed mixed reactions to the reshuffle. While some residents are hopeful that the new officers will bring about positive change, others remain skeptical and anxious about the ongoing crime wave.

One resident, Jane Acayo, shared her concerns: “We are living in fear every day. The crimes have become too frequent, and we need the police to protect us. I hope these new officers can make a real difference.”

The District Security Committee has also called for increased community cooperation with the police. They are urging residents to report any suspicious activities and to work closely with law enforcement to ensure a safer environment for everyone.

The reshuffled officers are expected to start their duties immediately, with a focus on increasing patrols, improving response times, and engaging with the community to build trust and gather intelligence.

Lamwo District officials have said they wil remain committed to reducing crime and ensuring the safety and security of all its residents. The recent reshuffle is seen as a critical step in achieving these goals.
