(Moroto) – On August 21, 2024, a tragic incident unfolded in Lochede village, Nachorogom parish. A 46 year old peasant, Ekullo Aleper from Napetawoi Village, was found dead, her body discarded at the Lochede Bridge Culvert by unknown assailants. The news of this gruesome act was reported to the Uganda Police Force at approximately 06:20 hours.
In response, the police quickly deployed a canine unit to the scene, a method proven effective in many investigations. The dog led the officers to a 20 year old suspect, Losike Francis, a resident of Lochede Village. This development brought a major breakthrough in the case, providing the police with a crucial lead.
A preliminary examination of the victim’s body revealed distressing signs of violence. Ekullo Aleper had suffered severe assault; her chin bore visible injuries, and her cheeks were bruised. Furthermore, her swollen stomach suggested possible internal bleeding, likely a result of the brutal attack. The examination also indicated that the victim had been raped before her death.
The suspect, Losike Francis, was immediately taken into custody and is currently assisting the police with their investigation. The authorities are continuing to gather evidence to build a strong case against those responsible for this heinous crime.
The Uganda police spokesperson said force remains committed to uncovering the full details of what transpired on that fateful day in Lochede village. He added that the deployment of the canine unit has proven instrumental in this case, demonstrating the importance of such resources in solving crimes and bringing justice to victims like Ekullo Aleper.
