Odrek Rwabogo, President Museveni’s son-in-law, entrepreneur, and farmer, recently attended a gathering in Mbarara that left a profound impact on him. He shared his thoughts on the importance of instilling national collective values among young people, fostering confidence in Africa’s potential, and advocating for Uganda’s industrial growth and exports.

At the event, which Rwabogo described as having historical significance and a strong focus on the nation’s development, attendees from various backgrounds came together. Among them were the seasoned veterans of the liberation war, the ambitious youth seeking employment opportunities and a sense of direction for their future, diligent business owners striving to maintain their market presence, and innovative entrepreneurs working to add value to Uganda’s industrial sector.

Rwabogo highlighted the remarkable showcase of efforts made by universities and private individuals to enhance agricultural productivity and generate wealth in both urban centers and rural areas. He particularly commended the initiative of young people who were involved in processing phytolacca dodecandra, also known as the kiwoko plant, which grows abundantly across Uganda. By transforming this plant into powder to combat liver fluke worms in animals, these individuals demonstrated their commitment to innovation and problem-solving.

Expressing his aspirations for Uganda’s future, Rwabogo emphasized the importance of nurturing leaders with a clear sense of purpose. He stressed the significance of providing quality education and guidance to residents of villages and towns across the country. Through effective education and mentorship, Rwabogo believes that Uganda can cultivate a confident and competent generation capable of driving the nation’s progress forward.
