Gulu, Uganda – A section of youth leaders under their umbrella “Team Thorough YKM Kira House” were on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, briefed on the core four Principles of NRM ideology, which include Patriotism, Pan-Africanism, Democracy, and Socio-economic Transformation. The meeting, comprising executive members of Team Thorough Kira House from both Acholi and Lango sub-regions, aimed to discuss strategies and possible ways to boost NRM support ahead of the 2026 general elections.
While presiding over the meeting, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC) of Gulu, Mr. Cosmas James Okidi, encouraged the youth leaders to be knowledgeable and explain the concepts of NRM principles in detail for members of the public to appreciate.
“Before you begin mobilizing, you must first be informed about the subject matter, and your mobilization must be geared towards the promotion of income-generating activities, encouraging people to embrace government programs, among others, for socio-economic transformation,” DRDC Cosmas remarked while addressing the regional executive members of Team Thorough, in a meeting held at Taks Centre, Gulu City.
“We must know that His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Uganda, Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, is mobilizing Ugandans to embrace the four sectors of the economy, namely Agriculture, Industrialization, Services, and ICT, which employ most Ugandans.”
He added that the President has initiated numerous projects such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, UWEP, GROW project, Youth Livelihood, OWC, Disability Grants, SAGE, to support farmers to move away from subsistence farming to modern commercial agriculture.
The DRDC appealed to Team Thorough YKM Kira House to monitor all government projects within their localities and to ensure that the NRM Manifesto 2021-2026 is fully implemented without deviation.
“Let’s fight corruption at all levels of implementation to avoid wasting resources. The government is seriously engaging stakeholders at various levels to put emphasis on fighting corruption and many interventions already put in place to stamp out this vice. Please let’s report any sorts of corruption scandals to relevant authorities, keeping in mind that it’s a collective responsibility,” added Okidi.
