The Directorate of Traffic & Road Safety has teamed up with Vivo Energy Uganda to promote road safety awareness in the Kigezi region. This partnership aims to educate the public on safer road practices through various initiatives, including radio talk shows, school outreach programs, and workshops for public service vehicle drivers.
Over the course of a week, multiple activities were conducted to spread the message of road safety. One of the key initiatives involved sensitizing more than 1,200 pupils at Kabale Primary School about the importance of wearing safety helmets. Alongside this, road safety literature and child safety helmets donated by Vivo Energy were distributed to the students.
Another significant component of the campaign was a road safety workshop for public service vehicle drivers. This workshop focused on teaching defensive driving techniques, with the goal of enhancing the drivers’ skills and reducing the likelihood of road accidents.
This collaborative effort between the Directorate of Traffic & Road Safety and Vivo Energy Uganda seeks to lower the number of road accidents in the region.
Uganda Police Force says by promoting a culture of road safety, the partnership hopes to create lasting awareness and change among road users in the Kigezi region.
