Rubanda District LC5 Chairperson Stephen Kasyaba joined the Batwa community in Rubanda West on November 6, 2024, to pay their final respects to the late Maruhe Edward, a respected member of the community who passed away at the age of 90.
During the burial ceremony held in Rwamahano Village, Ikamiro Parish, Muko sub-county, Kasyaba emphasized the importance of spiritual growth through baptism. He also encouraged the Batwa community to take advantage of government programs and NGO initiatives aimed at improving their livelihoods.
Muyambi Wilber, a lay leader at Rwaburindu Church of Uganda, echoed Kasyaba’s sentiments, highlighting the significance of baptism within the church.
Local leaders, including Nkurunziza Ronald, Henry Nsabiyeremye, and Alex Ainembabazi, commended Kasyaba for his efforts in bridging the gap between the majority and minority communities. They noted that previous leaders had often neglected the Batwa community, only reaching out to them during election periods.
As District Chairperson, Stephen Kasyaba has been instrumental in driving development projects across Rubanda District. Under his leadership, the district has witnessed significant progress in healthcare, education, and infrastructure.
His community-centered approach and commitment to inclusive leadership serve as an inspiration for others.
