A driver and conductor were detained by Kabale Police after a video surfaced showing them engaging in reckless and dangerous behavior on Katuna Road.

(Kabale) – The Uganda Police Force has detained a driver and conductor associated with a vehicle identified by registration number UBB 302E, following the circulation of a video showing them engaging in unsafe behavior on Katuna Road. The video, which quickly gained attention on social media, reveals the conductor seated precariously on top of the moving vehicle, raising concerns about the safety of both the passengers and other road users.

According to SP Michael Kananura, the spokesperson for the Uganda Police, the individuals involved were taken into custody after the video was widely shared, exposing the potential hazards posed by such behavior. The driver and conductor are currently being held at Kabale Police Station while authorities investigate the incident further.

The police have praised the individual who captured and shared the footage and stressed the importance of public involvement in identifying and reporting dangerous road practices. Citizens were encouraged to continue reporting such incidents through the police toll free line provided for public safety concerns.

Kananura said dangerous actions, such as those depicted in the video, not only endanger the lives of those directly involved but also pose risks to others on the road.

He issued a public reminder for all drivers and conductors to prioritize safety at all times, adhere to traffic regulations and exercise caution while on the road.
