Rubanda Mourns Former MP Eng. Denis Sabiti Ndyanabo, Family to Build Multipurpose Hall in His Honor

Former Rubanda West Member of Parliament, Eng. Denis Sabiti Ndyanabo, was laid to rest on July 20, 2025, at his ancestral home in Hakagogo Village, Ntungamo Byeza Ward, Katojo-Butare Town Council, Rubanda District.




The burial ceremony drew a large crowd of mourners, including dignitaries, politicians, technocrats, and local residents who came to celebrate the life and legacy of the late legislator.




Eng. Sabiti, who served in Parliament from 2016 to 2021, was born on August 18, 1953, and passed away on July 14, 2025, aged 72, after a prolonged battle with cancer. He is survived by two wives, eight children (four sons and four daughters), and 11 grandchildren.




A Tribute of Faith and Unity

The send-off began with a funeral Mass at Bishaki Hika in Muko Parish under Kabale Diocese, led by Rev. Fr. Eugene Felix Odedah. In his homily, Fr. Odedah encouraged the family to remain united and to uphold the values and legacy of their father.

He reminded mourners to draw closer to God, saying that true success in life is rooted in faith. Fr. Odedah also warned against disputes over earthly possessions, including land and property, urging families to prioritize unity and cooperation.




Hon. Musasizi: “A Man of Truth and Practicality”

The State Minister of Finance (General Duties) and Rubanda East MP, Hon. Henry Ariganyira Musasizi, served as the chief mourner. In his tribute, he praised Eng. Sabiti for his dedicated leadership, particularly in infrastructure development and agriculturehighlighting Sabiti’s role in introducing onion farming in Rubanda.

“Eng. Sabiti was a hardworking and principled man,” said Musasizi. “He stood by the trutheven choosing to leave the ruling party because of his commitment to honesty. Despite our political differences, we never clashed. He was practical, knowledgeable, and never relied on propaganda.”




Musasizi also acknowledged the family’s relentless care during Sabiti’s illness and contributed UGX 1 million to the family as a condolence gesture.

A Lasting Legacy: The Iremera Multipurpose Hall

In a heartfelt tribute, Sabiti’s childrenled by Eng. Denise Mercy Atukunda and Doreen Mary Tusiime Sabitithanked mourners for their support and described their father as a loving, devoted parent who valued education and service.

“Our dad was always there for us, and we’ve never regretted having him as our father. Thank you all for being there during this difficult time. We love you and are proud to be part of this community,” said the children.

To honor their father’s legacy, the family announced plans to construct a multipurpose hall at Iremera Primary School in Katojo-Butare Town Council, Rubanda District. The project aims to enhance the school’s learning environment and serve as a memorial to Eng. Sabiti’s contributions to the community.







Mugabe Martin, the late MP’s eldest son, pledged to spearhead the project and mobilize resources. He called upon the public to support the initiative, which he said would benefit both the school and the wider community.

Community Support and Recognition

Deputy Ambassador Col. Emmy Katabazi commended the initiative, noting that Sabiti inspired many young people in Rubanda to pursue science-related fields, being the first engineer from the region. He also contributed UGX 1 million to support the multipurpose hall project.

Eng. Denis Sabiti Ndyanabo is remembered not only for his political service but also for his legacy of integrity, innovation, and commitment to community development.
