Engola and Gen. Saleh Hold Talks on Economic Development and Security for Lango

Lira District – Hon. Sam Engola, Senior Presidential Advisor on Lango Sub-region Affairs, last week met with Gen. Akandwanaho Caleb (Salim Saleh) to discuss matters of national importance, particularly those affecting the Lango sub-region.

In an interview with our reporter on Sunday, Hon. Sam Engola shared that during his meeting with Gen. Saleh, they had an interactive discussion on several key issues concerning the Lango sub-region. According to Engola, the main issues discussed were:




  1. Economic Development: Engola stated that they discussed strategies to boost industrialization, investment, and job creation in the Lango sub-region, which will lead to long-lasting positive results for the people of Lango.

  2. Security & Stability: He mentioned that they focused on strengthening law enforcement and improving coordination between local leaders and security agencies.

  3. Infrastructure Development: Engola emphasized the need to prioritize road networks, electricity expansion, and water accessibility in the region.

  4. Government Programs & Service Delivery: Engola noted that enhancing efficiency in initiatives like PDM, Emyooga, and NAADS would play a crucial role in wealth creation.

  5. Youth & Women Empowerment: Supporting vocational training, entrepreneurship, and access to affordable credit was identified as key to developing the region.

Engola thanked Gen. Salim Saleh for being a committed and vibrant leader who has always responded to various requests made by leaders, ensuring timely results.




As a disciplined NRM card-carrying member, Sam Engola has been a long-time friend of Gen. Salim Saleh, and many people hope their coordination will foster significant development in the Lango sub-region and Northern Uganda as a whole.
