EU Envoy Hails UPDF’s Role in Regional Stability

EU Special Representative Ambassador Johan Borgstam met with Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, to discuss regional security and future cooperation between the EU and Uganda.

(Entebbe) – The European Union Special Representative for the Great Lakes Region, Ambassador Johan Borgstam, recently met with Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, to discuss issues of regional security, the progress of Operation Shujaa, and future cooperation between the EU and Uganda.

During the meeting, held at the Special Forces Command headquarters in Entebbe, Ambassador Borgstam commended the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) for their significant contributions to regional stability. He highlighted the UPDF’s role in maintaining peace and security within the region, emphasizing the importance of their continued involvement in fostering long-term stability.




Ambassador Borgstam also expressed admiration for the work of the UPDF and reassured General Kainerugaba of the EU’s commitment to strengthening its relationship with Uganda. This included discussions on expanding cooperation between the European Union and Uganda in various areas, with a particular focus on the ongoing security efforts and their mutual goals in promoting peace across the Great Lakes region.




The meeting was also attended by Ambassador Jan Sadek, the Head of the EU Delegation to Uganda, and his deputy, Mr. Guillaume Chartrain.
