(Entebbe) – Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, and Mali’s Chief of General Staff, Major General Oumar Diarra, have signed a military cooperation agreement aimed at enhancing security collaboration between the two nations.
General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, and Major General Oumar Diarra, the Chief of General Staff of Mali, have formalized a military cooperation agreement. This agreement highlights the growing partnership between Uganda and Mali, focusing on addressing mutual security threats and promoting stability in both countries.
The agreement signing took place after a meeting in June at the Special Forces Command headquarters in Entebbe. During that visit, Major General Diarra and his delegation attended the pass-out ceremony of cadet officers, where nineteen Malian officers graduated.
Today’s discussions at the Special Forces Command focused on the need to enhance military cooperation and build on existing memoranda of understanding between Uganda and Mali. Both defense chiefs acknowledged the importance of this collaboration in tackling various security challenges.
Under the terms of the agreement, Uganda and Mali will work together on several defense initiatives. These include joint training exercises, intelligence sharing, and capacity building. This collaboration is expected to strengthen the operational capabilities of both nations in combating issues such as terrorism, insurgency, and organized crime.
