Longoli Paul, a notorious and wanted warrior in North Karamoja, surrendered his illegal firearm to the 3 Infantry Division Commander, Major General Don Nabasa, in Karenga Town Council, Karenga District.
Longoli, originally from Lolelia in Kaabong District, disclosed that he had shared the gun with Komuria Ngiro from Nachakunet village and Kokoi Nyoya from Nakwakwa village, both in Kaabong District. They had been operating in the wilderness across Kaabong, Kotido, and Karenga districts.
Major General Nabasa commended Longoli for responding positively to the President’s call and urged others still at large to follow suit by surrendering their weapons to the government. He assured them of non-prosecution if they cooperate with security forces.
Longoli was assured of his freedom and eligibility for government programs targeting the Karacunas, signifying a fresh start.
The surrender of Longoli brings hope to Karenga residents who experienced a surge in attacks between October and November.
Longoli, previously feared as one of the most notorious warriors in North Karamoja, now stands apart from those still at large, including Isa Apalomal.
Present at the event were 405 Brigade Commander Col David Byaruhanga, Senior Officers, Mr. Kedi Ronald, Deputy Resident District Commissioner Karenga, and Hon. Nagiro Samuel, Local Council 3 Chairperson Lolelia Main, Kaabong District.
