The Ugandan team that took part in the 13th East African Community Armed Forces Field Training Exercise, called ‘Ushirikiano Imara,’ in Rwanda, has been praised for their excellent performance.
Brigadier General Micheal Kabango, Chief of Staff for Land Force, praised the team for maintaining Uganda’s high standards throughout the exercise. He expressed confidence that the skills they learned would be useful in their future tasks.
Brigadier General Alex Olupot, who is responsible for Joint Staff Training and Doctrine, also commended the team for their enthusiastic participation. He noted that the exercise, which is hosted by different East African Community member states each year, was a success due to the great cooperation among different groups. These groups included the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF), Uganda Police, Uganda Prisons, and civilians, all working together from the start to the end of the exercise.
The ceremony to honor the Ugandan team took place at the Non-Commissioned Officers Academy in Jinja. It was attended by many important guests. Among them were Brigadier General Chris Ogwal, Commandant of the Junior Command and Staff College, Brigadier General Peter Omola, Commandant of the Uganda Rapid Deployment Capability Centre, Brigadier General Emmanuel Kanyesigye, Commander of Jinja Cantonment, senior officers of the UPDF, and representatives from the Uganda Prisons Service and Uganda Police Force.
