During the national launch of Defence Forces Week at Mbuya Army Headquarters in Kampala, UPDF Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Wilson Mbadi emphasized that the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has played a crucial role in supporting democracy. He asserted that while anyone can aspire to lead the country, nobody can destabilize it.
Addressing the audience ahead of the 43rd Tarehe Sita anniversary, Gen. Mbadi highlighted UPDF’s unmatched record of performance guided by a clear vision, contributing to the country’s socio-economic transformation and regional stability.
He expressed gratitude to President Yoweri Museveni, the commander in chief of UPDF, for his founding father’s role and leadership. Gen. Mbadi also thanked the people of Uganda for their unwavering support and the UPDF for its revolutionary spirit.
Acknowledging the sacrifices made by those who paid the ultimate price for freedom, Gen. Mbadi stated that Uganda has successfully navigated through turbulent periods in its history. He emphasized that UPDF has fully achieved its mission to pacify the country and laid a firm foundation for economic and social transformation.
Gen. Mbadi highlighted the restoration of security for people, property, and borders, asserting that UPDF is now focused on planning operations beyond war to ensure total human security, not just physical security.
The Defence Forces Week includes various activities such as medical camps, sanitation and hygiene initiatives, infrastructure development, sports and recreation, mindset change engagements, and sponsorships.
