A military helicopter crashed in Kabarole District on Tuesday at 2:30 pm in Nyamisigiri Village, situated on the border between Kabarole and Ntoroko within Kichwamba Sub-county.

Maj. Naboth Mugisha, the spokesperson for the UPDF Air Force, confirmed that the incident was an accidental crash. However, details regarding the occupants of the helicopter were not disclosed.

The helicopter, en route to DR Congo from Ssaka Airfield, crashed after hitting the roofs of two houses, subsequently catching fire, according to eyewitnesses.

Kichwamba Sub-county’s LC III Chairperson, Jack Magezi, reported that the helicopter crashed into the residence of a resident known only as Mukidi, resulting in his instant death.

To manage the aftermath, UPDF soldiers have cordoned off the crash site in Kabarole, preventing onlookers from accessing it.
