Joseph Ayolo, Napak – The Woman Member of Parliament for Napak District, Ms. Faith Nakut Chuna, has blasted the Ministry of Water and Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture, urging them to stop dragging her into their conflicts, which she says have resulted in their failure to deliver services to the people of Karamoja.

The MP’s criticism of the two ministries follows an online story accusing her of leading a group of elected leaders to frustrate the construction of dams in the region.

The story specifically mentioned the Nakonyen Dam, located between Moroto and Amudat, alleging that Ms. Nakut wanted the dam to be constructed in Napak—a claim that Ms. Nakut has dismissed as an attempt to tarnish her reputation.

She questioned how much money the two ministries paid the writer to spread such false information.

“I am not the Woman Member of Parliament for Moroto or Amudat; I am the Woman Member of Parliament for Napak. What interest do I have in Moroto? The two ministries should focus on accounting for the billions of shillings spent on unfinished projects instead of dragging me into their petty wars,” an angry Ms. Nakut said.

According to Ms. Nakut, the Ministry of Agriculture was supposed to construct a dam in Lotome, which they have failed to deliver, with the funds allegedly misappropriated.

“We know about the confusion in these two ministries. Let them solve their own problems and not extend them to us. I am not interested in their nonsense,” she added.

She further criticized the ministries, saying that instead of completing fully funded projects in Karamoja, they are busy paying fake writers to blackmail people.

The Ministry of Agriculture has been widely criticized by leaders in Karamoja for failing to implement many multi-billion shilling projects in the region.
