Soroti, Uganda –The Regional Traffic Officer for East Kyoga Police Region, SP Okwir Mathias Mulumba, has celebrated his 34 years of service, calling upon all police officers to work closely with the public for result-oriented, disciplined work.

According to Mathias Okwir, “No one has complained about him because he is a straightforward person who does not entertain corruption in the Uganda Police Traffic Department.”

He emphasized that the key to successful work is respect for the public, as it is through discipline and respect that better coordination and the fruitful delivery of services are achieved.

While addressing the media in an exclusive interview on Tuesday evening, SP Okwir Mathias Mulumba shared that, for example, boda-boda riders have reliable information on criminals and urged police to work with them to combat crime.

SP Okwir also noted that the road safety training conducted for drivers and boda-boda riders contributed to a decline in accident cases in the East Kyoga region during the festive season.

Lira City Deputy Mayor, Rebecca Alwedo Ogole, recently said that Okwir Mathias supported them in regulating street vending and alleviating traffic congestion.

Many people in Lira City and the Lango sub-region who spoke to our reporter commended SP Okwir for uniting factions of boda-boda associations in Lira City, thereby promoting peace during his tenure in the Lango sub-region (North Kyoga Police Region).

Kole RDC, Josephine Omara Olili, said Okwir was a dedicated and disciplined public servant.

While serving as the Regional Traffic Officer in North Kyoga, Okwir maintained excellent public relations with the media, the public, and fellow officers.

He believes that a love for the work is essential for serving the people effectively through kindness and discipline.
