KIU Titans are close to securing a spot in this year’s National Basketball League Finals after a powerful weekend performance against UCU Canons. The Titans now lead the best-of-five Semifinal series 2-0 with consecutive wins.
In an exciting Sunday evening match, the Titans, led by Captain Joseph Chuma, turned a tied score of 50-50 in the third quarter into a dominant fourth quarter, outscoring the Canons 23-6.
Denis Balungu’s impressive 15 points and seven rebounds, along with Chuma’s game-changing 13 points and nine rebounds, contributed to the Titans’ strong performance.
Despite the Canons’ valiant efforts, they couldn’t withstand the Titans’ attack.
The Titans have a chance to secure their spot in the National Basketball League Finals in game three on Friday.
“We’ve won two games, but we know the team we’re up against, so it’s not over yet. Our focus is on winning game three this Friday to reach the finals,” said KIU Titans Coach, Julius Lutwama in a post-game interview.
“We’re aware that we’re just one game away from the finals, and we’re determined to win it and advance,” he added.
In contrast to his coach, KIU Titans captain Joseph Chuma is confident about their journey to the finals.
“We secured the win because we played as a team. In the fourth quarter, we knew we needed to attack and move the ball more. Edgar, my teammate, executed it well, and I was there to score.”
“We’re definitely going to the finals; I believe we’ll make it,” Chuma stated confidently.
