4000 participants are expected in the 21st National Games and Sports Championship for Health Training Institutions that will be hosted at Kabale School of Comprehensive Nursing, in Kabale Municipality.
Kabale School of Comprehensive Nursing is scheduled to host the sports events from September 10th to 16th, 2023, where all 70 institutions are expected to participate in the sporting competitions organized by the Association of Principals of Health Training Institutions of Uganda in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Sports.
According to the Chairperson of the Organizing Committee of the Kabale team, Ronald Dangi, some of the sporting events in which institutions will compete include athletics, football for boys and girls, netball, volleyball, basketball, and woodball, among others.
The Principal of Kabale School of Comprehensive Nursing, Josephine Nambiro Kigozi, said that they have already prepared accommodation and meals for the participants, despite limited resources. She added that they have also written to the District Heads of Security, who have confirmed that they will deploy enough security personnel, considering the current suspected terror attack in the country. Nambiro added that the events are organized under the theme of “prevention of non-communicable diseases”.
The Kabale District Police Commander, Abel Ruganza, confirmed that they have already made several deployments and mapped out the town to ensure there is peace during the events. He asked people to be vigilant to each other, because such events sometimes attract wrongdoers.
