KCCA Panthers Secure Seasoned Coach in Raymond Muhumuza

Saturday, January 20, 2024

KCCA Panthers have secured the services of former KIU Titans head coach, Raymond Muhumuza, as their new head coach ahead of the upcoming National Basketball League (NBL) season. The announcement comes as the team gears up for a fresh season with high hopes and a renewed coaching approach.

Raymond Muhumuza’s tenure at KIU Titans concluded with his replacement by Julius Lutwama, who notably guided the Titans to the finals in the previous season. The seasoned coach brings a wealth of experience to KCCA Panthers, and his strategic insights are anticipated to contribute significantly to the team’s performance in the upcoming league.

In a parallel development, the women’s team, KCCA Leopards, will be under the guidance of former KIU Rangers head coach, Roger Sserunyigo. This marks Sserunyigo’s return to KCCA for his second stint, demonstrating his familiarity with the team and the challenges that lie ahead. Sserunyigo’s coaching journey includes roles at KIU Rangers, UMU Ravens, Makindye Shooters, and as an assistant coach for the Junior Gazelles.

Sserunyigo’s earlier departure from KIU, after just three fixtures, reflects a challenging start, including losses to JKL Lady Dolphins and Miracle Eaglets, with a sole victory against the Angels. Despite the setbacks, his return to KCCA signals a renewed commitment to making a positive impact on the women’s team.

Both Muhumuza and Sserunyigo bring a deep understanding of basketball fundamentals and a proven track record to their coaching roles. While their impact on the court touchline is yet to be witnessed, the anticipation among fans and the basketball community is palpable.

As the new coaching duo assumes their responsibilities, the spotlight is on KCCA Panthers and KCCA Leopards, with expectations running high for a successful season.
