KCB Bank Uganda has revealed a significant cash sponsorship package of sh95 million for Kampala Old Boys (KOBs) Rugby Club, one of Uganda’s top rugby clubs. This sponsorship not only bestows KCB Bank with naming rights but also leads to the club’s new identity: KCB-KOBS Rugby Club.

The announcement was made earlier this week at the Legends Rugby Grounds by Diana Komukama Ssempebwa, Head of Marketing and Communications at KCB Bank Uganda. She expressed her optimism about the sponsorship and reiterated the bank’s commitment to the game and Ugandan sports at large.

Ssempebwa stated, “I am pleased to announce that KCB Bank Uganda is committing shs95 million to KOBs Rugby Club as part of our support for the growth of the club and promotion of rugby talent among the youth in Uganda. This sponsorship will enable the Club to effectively prepare, participate, and excel in competitive sports in the country and the region.” She also noted that KCB Bank is a strong regional supporter and aims to extend its support to teams in Uganda.

Effective immediately, KCB Bank Uganda pledges to celebrate every victory and stand alongside the club after every local and international game. Ssempebwa emphasized the bank’s commitment to delivering shared value to the communities it serves and expressed the bank’s enthusiasm for supporting a sport that holds a special place in the hearts of Ugandans.

Komukama encouraged club members to strive for excellence and reiterated the bank’s commitment to fostering team excellence, which extends beyond financial assistance. She concluded by stating, “Let us embrace this partnership as a gateway to a sea of opportunities for us both.”

Godfrey Ssekajja, the KOBS Head Coach, expressed his gratitude to KCB Bank Uganda, highlighting the significance of this partnership as more than just a business relationship. He stated, “This partnership is more than a business relationship for us, but also a significant opportunity that solidifies our bond as a family. Thank you for believing in us and taking this step with us. We hope to deliver an experience that surpasses your expectations.”

Derrick Tukwasibwe, the Kobs Rugby Club Captain, also extended his gratitude to KCB Bank Uganda and emphasized that this partnership is a game-changer for the team and the rugby sport as a whole. He said, “My clubmates and I see this partnership as the boost we have prayed and hoped for, for a long time. Association with a prestigious brand like KCB pushes us to excel and be good ambassadors.”

KCB Bank Uganda has a history of supporting various sports in the country, including sponsorship of events like the Pearl of Africa Rally, KCB Nkumba Women’s Volleyball Team, and the 4th golf edition of Victoria Cup games.
