With only three days remaining until the commencement of the 2023 CECAFA U15 Championship, the current champions and this year’s hosts are determined to maintain their reign.

It is worth noting that Uganda clinched the inaugural edition of this championship in 2019, held in Asmara, Eritrea.

On Tuesday, CECAFA unveiled the draws for the two groups, featuring the participation of eight teams.

Head coach Hamuza Lutalo exudes confidence in his team’s preparations over the past few days, aiming to successfully defend the championship title.

Lutalo stated, “We have prepared thoroughly for this Championship, and I believe our players will deliver strong performances to retain the trophy. We are committed to nurturing talent while striving for excellence with our young athletes. The entire team is in excellent shape and fully prepared for the upcoming tournament.”

He added, “We anticipate tough competition from all participating teams. However, our players understand the challenges that lie ahead, as this tournament serves as vital preparation for the AFCON U-17 Zonal Qualifiers next year.”

Uganda Rhinos are scheduled to kick off the tournament against Djibouti at FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru on Saturday.

The CECAFA U15 Championship is slated to take place from November 4th to November 16th, 2023.
