State Minister for Information, Communication, and Technology, Godfrey Kabyanga Baluku, has urged journalists to maintain impartiality and balanced reporting in their duties.
He made this call during the official commissioning of Tayari Radio (94.0FM) in Bitereko sub-county, Mitooma district, on Friday, January 31, 2025.
Minister Kabyanga emphasized the importance of hearing all sides of a story and avoiding hasty conclusions.
He also stressed that all religions and political parties should receive equal opportunities in the media space. To improve communication in the area, Kabyanga promised to erect communication masts in Mitooma to resolve network issues.
Deputy Speaker of Parliament, the Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, who owns Tayari Radio, stated that the radio station is community-based rather than profit-oriented.
The radio’s primary focus will be on mobilizing citizens to participate in government programs aimed at promoting community development. Tayebwa also encouraged politicians to utilize the radio as a communication tool, highlighting the current government’s role in promoting freedom of speech.
Mitooma District Woman Member of Parliament, Juliet Agasha Bashiisha, commended Deputy Speaker Tayebwa for bringing the radio station to Mitooma, which she said will enhance communication in the district.
She also urged voters in Ruhinda North to re-elect Tayebwa in the upcoming elections if they want further development in the county.
