A man traveling on a Kampala to Arua bus died mid-journey, leaving fellow passengers in shock and prompting an investigation into the incident.

Passengers on a bus heading from Kampala to Arua City were left in shock on Thursday, October 24, 2024, after discovering a fellow traveler had died during the journey. The man, identified as Zuber Abiriga, had reportedly been discharged from a hospital in Kampala and was being transported back home to Arua.

The bus company’s Arua branch manager, Atiku Abdullatif Juma, shared details of the incident with The Ankole Times on Friday morning, confirming that Abiriga was under the care of his daughter, who was accompanying him on the trip.




According to the bus conductress, the deceased and his daughter had boarded the bus in Kampala, with plans to reach their home in Arua City. As the journey progressed, however, the conductress became concerned after noticing that Abiriga appeared unresponsive.




The discovery created an atmosphere of panic and concern among the passengers, who were unsettled by the sudden tragedy. Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the cause of death, though initial reports indicate no signs of foul play.




The bus company has expressed condolences to the family and emphasized its commitment to ensuring safety and comfort for all passengers, even as they work with officials to address the incident appropriately.
