Two Killed in Fuel Truck Collision on Masaka-Mbarara Highway

(Kasagirwa) – Two people lost their lives early yesterday morning in a fatal accident on the Masaka-Mbarara Highway at Kasagirwa. The collision, which occurred around 4:00 a.m. on October 25, 2024, involved two large vehicles: a Mercedes-Benz trailer carrying fuel, registered as KCL 438X/ZF 7093, and a Fuso Fighter truck, with the registration UBK 576N.

According to initial reports, the driver of the Mercedes-Benz fuel trailer lost control of the vehicle, resulting in a head-on collision with the oncoming Fuso Fighter. The impact led to the instant death of both the driver and the assistant of the Fuso truck, who could not survive the severe injuries they sustained in the crash.




The aftermath of the collision has led to a temporary roadblock on the highway, one of Uganda’s busiest routes. In response, authorities have implemented traffic diversions to help manage the flow of vehicles and minimize delays for motorists in the area.

Police officers at the scene have secured the area and are working on clearing the wrecked vehicles from the road to fully reopen the highway to normal traffic. Authorities have also confirmed that an investigation has been launched to determine the precise cause of the crash.
