On International Labour Day, May 1st, 2025, a group of teachers from Uganda, including representatives from Immaculate Heart Girls School in Rukungiri District, visited Rostec College in Pretoria, South Africa, for a benchmarking exercise.
The teachers were welcomed by Hon. Kakuru Phillip, the Ugandan-born Founding Member of Rostec College and a prominent business tycoon. Hon. Kakuru has consistently demonstrated a commitment to improving the well-being of Ugandans both in South Africa and Uganda.
Hon. Kakuru Phillip also serves as a Senior Presidential Advisor on Trade, an appointment bestowed upon him by the President of Uganda, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. This appointment recognized his significant efforts in mobilizing businessmen and investors outside Uganda to invest in the country.
Believing that teachers are the cornerstone of the education system, Hon. Kakuru emphasized that this benchmarking mission was crucial for Ugandan educators to acquire new skills and techniques that would enhance teaching and learning practices in Uganda.
The visiting teachers expressed their appreciation to Hon. Kakuru Phillip for his remarkable support of the education sector in South Africa. They also encouraged him to establish a branch of Rostec College in Uganda. One teacher remarked, “Your investments in South Africa underscore the Pan-Africanism spirit.”
Looking ahead, Hon. Kakuru believes that if granted the mandate of NRM Chairman for the Entrepreneurs’ League, it would provide another significant platform to attract even more investors from across the globe to invest in Uganda.
As elections approach, Hon. Kakuru Phillip stands out as a leading candidate for the NRM Entrepreneurs’ League.
