The Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, Ruth Nankabirwa, embarked on a trip to China, extending from an invitation by Huawei, a prominent technology company with global operations.
During her visit, Minister Nankabirwa engaged in discussions with top executives of Huawei at their Headquarters and Huawei OX-Campus located in Shenzhen Guangdong China. The primary aim of these discussions was to reinforce the existing ties between Uganda and Huawei.
Expressing her observations following the meetings, Minister Nankabirwa lauded Huawei for its remarkable innovations. She commended the company’s dedication to fostering innovation and its willingness to collaborate with Uganda, recognizing the potential for mutual benefit.
The minister’s visit signifies a significant milestone in strengthening the relationship between Uganda and China, particularly in the realm of technological cooperation. Huawei, a renowned multinational corporation, specializes in the design, development, manufacturing, and sale of a wide range of telecommunications equipment, consumer electronics, smart devices, and rooftop solar products. Founded in 1987 by Ren Zhengfei, a former officer in the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), Huawei has established itself as a leading player in the global technology landscape.
