His Highness the Umukuka III, Jude Mike Mudoma, has revealed through his spokesperson, Hon. Steven Masiga, that the Bamasaaba oracles had predicted a landslide victory for the incumbent President, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, in the 2026 general elections.
In the same statement, His Highness congratulated President Museveni on his landslide victory in the recently concluded elections. He expressed happiness that the electoral process was conducted peacefully across the Bugisu sub-region.
Speaking on behalf of the Bugisu Cultural Institution, Hon. Masiga said the Umukuka and the Bamasaaba community were pleased with the calm atmosphere during the elections. He added that His Highness commended the Cabinet, led by the Prime Minister, Dr. Paul Mwambu, for preaching peace and discouraging violence throughout the electoral period.
The Umukuka also saluted the security leadership in the Elgon region, led by the Mbale City Resident City Commissioner, George Wopuwa, his deputies, and other Resident District Commissioners from the Bugisu region. He further applauded the police leadership under the Regional Police Commander for Elgon, Samuel Asimwe, as well as all district and city police commanders, for maintaining law and order.
Additionally, His Highness commended the Electoral Commission team led by Madam Sarah Mukwaya Bukirwa and her teams across the 17 districts that constitute the Elgon region for successfully organizing the elections.
The Umukuka III also applauded the Bamasaaba people for turning up in large numbers and voting peacefully in the just-ended elections. Hon. Masiga noted that those who heeded the guidance of the Umukuka and his agents did not encounter any problems during the electoral process.
Looking ahead, the Umukuka pledged to continue mobilizing his community to ensure they benefit from various government projects in the region. He praised President Museveni for fulfilling several development projects and programs previously pledged to Bugisu, noting that follow-ups would be made on the few remaining commitments.
Hon. Masiga further observed that the Bugisu region registered an impressive voter turnout due to effective mobilization. He emphasized that elections are a government program and that it is the duty of cultural leaders to encourage their people to participate. He concluded by thanking the Bamasaaba for listening to the Umukuka and turning out massively to vote.
