The Umukuka III, His Highness Jude Mike Mudoma of the Bamasaaba people, has commended the Daily Express and Ankole Times media platforms for their sustained coverage during his visit to the United States of America (USA) for the International Humanitarian Knighthood ceremony.
Steven Masiga, the spokesperson of the Bugisu Cultural Institution, said His Highness was highly satisfied with the media coverage—particularly from the Daily Express and Ankole Times—over the past two weeks while he was abroad.
“These platforms kept the Bamasaaba people, both in Uganda and the Diaspora, informed about the itinerary and activities of the Umukuka while outside Uganda. We thank them,” Masiga said.
Masiga also recognized the contribution of several headteachers who supported the mobilization efforts. These include Madam Nankya Masitula (Nakaloke SSS), Mr. Peter Musingo (Mbale School for the Deaf), and Mr. Peter Samanya (Mulatsi SSS), who provided fuel and logistical support to the organizing team.
He extended appreciation to Dr. Rubanza of the Uganda Police, Dr. Paul Mwambu (Prime Minister of the Bugisu Cultural Institution), and Hon. Michael Materesi for offering vital facilitation.
The Umukuka also acknowledged the support of the Elgon Region Police leadership, which provided security, police escort vehicles, and both covert and overt security detail during his return.
Special thanks were given to Bukuka Ministers who provided escort vehicles, including Hon. Patrick Mataku, Hon. Rev. Titus Kutosi, and Hon. Kalid Massa. The efforts of Hon. Kutoi (Minister for Culture), Hon. Irene Manghali, and others were also highlighted for their contributions.
Military Royal Guards were placed on standby to ensure the security of His Highness and his entourage throughout the reception.
“It is our duty, as a cultural institution, to recognize and appreciate the community’s efforts aimed at honoring the Bukuka and the people—especially those who supported us fully as we worked to give His Highness a befitting welcome upon his return to the land,” Masiga added.
His Highness was officially received yesterday in Mbale upon his arrival from the United States.
