His Highness the Umukuka III of the Bamasaaba, Jude Mike Mudoma, is set to feed and address over one million students, parents, teachers, and other stakeholders during an upcoming educational symposium that has been warmly welcomed by schools across Namisindwa District.
The event, which will bring together more than one million Bamasaba participants, aims to promote unity, education, and cultural identity among the people of Bugisu.
Schools in Namisindwa have expressed overwhelming support for the initiative. Several headteachers and education stakeholders who spoke to our reporter praised the Umukuka for taking a proactive role in uplifting education in the region. They described the conference as a major step forward for Bugisu in the education sector.
Speaking on behalf of their institutions, the headteachers of Situmi Primary School and St. Stephen’s High School confirmed that their schools are fully prepared to participate in the upcoming educational gathering.
Father Wandera of Situmi Catholic Church also voiced his support, stating that the church stands firmly behind His Highness the Umukuka in this noble initiative to foster education and community development.
Steven Masiga, spokesperson for the Bugisu Cultural Institution, noted that the Umukuka will not only feed the attendees but also engage with his bebetsulu (grandchildren), offering guidance and cultural wisdom.
Masiga was accompanied by Hon. Irene Manghali, the Umukuka’s Special Envoy for School Mobilization, who has been instrumental in rallying schools across the district for the event.
