President Biden emerged as the 14th-best president, while his anticipated 2024 presidential rival, former President Donald Trump, found himself at the bottom of the rankings in a recent survey conducted by a panel of experts specializing in American presidency.
The survey, known as the 2024 Presidential Greatness Project Expert Survey, took place from November 15 to December 31. It involved current and recent members of the Presidents and Executive Politics Section of the American Political Science Association, the foremost organization of social science experts in presidential politics.
According to the experts, Abraham Lincoln was ranked as America’s greatest president.
President Biden’s ranking placed him ahead of Woodrow Wilson, Ronald Reagan, and Ulysses S. Grant. Notably, former President Barack Obama moved up to 7th place, eight spots higher than his ranking in the previous year’s survey.
Former President Trump received the lowest ranking in the survey, securing the 45th position. He ranked below James Buchanan, Andrew Johnson, Franklin Pierce, and William Henry Harrison.
The survey also analyzed partisan and ideological differences among respondents, with surveyors noting that these differences did not “tend to make a major difference overall.”
However, a noticeable partisan division surfaced in the rankings for Obama and Biden. Democrat respondents rated them at an average of 6th and 13th place, respectively, while Republicans ranked them at 15th and 30th place, respectively.
