Bobi Wine, the leader of Uganda’s largest opposition party, the National Unity Platform (NUP), recently shared a video on the social media platform X. In the video, he described an incident that occurred during his visit to Masaka City. According to Wine, security forces blocked his access to the city using the main road, prompting him and his team to take an alternative route provided by the authorities.
Wine explained that as they turned onto the new route, security forces launched sound bombs and tear gas canisters at them. He expressed gratitude for escaping unharmed, noting that one of the explosives detonated very close to his vehicle.
Wine emphasized that despite the challenges and dangers they face, the fight for freedom will continue. He acknowledged that the struggle would not be easy but affirmed that the pursuit of freedom and justice for Uganda is worth the effort.
When they blocked us from accessing Masaka City using the main road, we decided to use the alternative route which they gave us. But because they are always trigger happy, as we turned, they hurled at us sound bombs and teargas canisters. It's only by God's grace that I wasn't… pic.twitter.com/yvX5ngbMnx
