Hundreds gathered to witness the groundbreaking ceremony at Akii-Bua Olympic Stadium, officiated by President Yoweri Museveni. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and a touch of drama as two government ministers and political aspirants, Betty Amongi and Dr. Jane Aceng, sat together, radiating happiness.
Speaking to the media before the event, Amongi expressed her delight at the progress of the stadium’s construction.
Meanwhile, a group of supporters circulated around the tent where Dr. Aceng was seated, singing her praises as they awaited the President’s arrival.
Hon. Betty Amongi recently concluded her farewell tour in Oyam District. Rumors suggest she will soon be welcomed by a large gathering as she shifts her political focus to contest for the Woman MP position in Lira City.
Amongi commended the President for the Parish Development Model (PDM) initiative and his efforts in launching the Akii-Bua Olympic Stadium construction.
Other dignitaries present included Sam Engola, Minister Ogwang, Ambassador Aceng Ruth of Kole District, MP Alyek Judith (Chairperson of the Lango Parliamentary Group), Youth MP Okot Boniface, and Santa Alum Ogwang, among others.
Sports Minister Ogwang Peter announced that the stadium’s construction is expected to be completed within 20 months.
