Cecilia Ogwal’s legacy continues through her daughter, Dr. Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal, who is poised to contest for the Dokolo Woman MP seat, according to a source close to the family.
After Cecilia Ogwal’s burial, a family meeting took place to review her legacy and discuss her unfinished projects. Recognizing the need for parliamentary representation to actualize these projects, the family decided that a family member, specifically someone close to Cecilia, should step forward.
“After several hours of discussion, they agreed to front the eldest daughter, Dr. Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal, to contest for the Dokolo Woman MP position,” the source revealed.
This decision was further influenced by a delegation of voters from over 60 parishes in Dokolo district who visited the family after the burial in Alito, Kole district. The delegation urged Rosemary Ogwal to take over, citing ongoing Church, education, livelihood, and development projects initiated by Cecilia.
Dr. Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal, who pursued her education at Mt St Mary’s Namagunga and later in the UK, holds a Ph.D. in Economics. She has been practicing as an economist.
Cecilia Ogwal, a respected figure, was laid to rest on Saturday, January 27, in Alito, Kole district, following her passing in India on January 18.
As per electoral laws, bye-elections are expected to be held within 60 days after Parliament declares a seat vacant, providing the timeline for the potential candidacy of Dr. Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal.
