KOLE, Uganda – Hon. Judith Alyek is the District Women’s Representative for Kole District in the 11th Parliament. She has served from 2016 to the present (two terms). A member of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), she boasts the following achievements:
Committee Roles
- 2021 – Present: Chairperson of the Equal Opportunities Committee in the Parliament of Uganda (two terms)
- June 2016 – December 2018: Chairperson of the Committee on HIV/AIDS and Related Matters
She has also been a member of the Business Committee, Committee on Health, National Economy Committee, Foreign Affairs Committee, and Presidential Affairs Committee. Additionally, she serves on the Agricultural Committee.

Hon. Alyek has been the Chairperson of the Lango Parliamentary Group since 2021. She is also a member of various forums, including:

Boards
She has served on the Board of the Uganda AIDS Commission and the International Union of Health Promotion and Education.
Participation in Parliament
- Moved a motion for the implementation of policies and legislation relating to children.
- Called for the formation of an authority to monitor and implement children’s rights.
- Advocated for action against rights violations in the Lango region.
- Advocated for the reduction of the SAGE age from 80 to 70 years.
- Advocated for the implementation of a district quota system for the Students’ Loan Scheme, which has been approved by Parliament.
- Encouraged the government to begin granting assistance to families of persons with disabilities.
Hon. Alyek, alongside other members of the Lango Parliamentary Group, has advocated for various developments in the Lango Sub-region, including improvements to major road networks (e.g., Lira-Kamdini, Rwekunye-Apac-Lira-Puranga), Akiibua Stadium, and cattle compensation.
Other Achievements
She has tirelessly supported her constituents in Kole District, empowering vulnerable groups such as women, youth, persons with disabilities, the elderly, and children. She has trained and supported various groups, including youth, women, widows, and persons living with HIV/AIDS, to boost their income and improve their livelihoods.
Hon. Alyek has assisted many disadvantaged children in accessing education through scholarships, bursaries, and personal support. As an advocate for girl child education, she serves as an inspiration to many.
She has supported health services in Kole by donating ambulances and medical equipment, including beds and delivery kits, and organizing several health camps. Hon. Alyek has also contributed to water and sanitation programs in the district by drilling and repairing boreholes, because water is life!
As a vibrant MP, she has lobbied for farm equipment like tractors and distributed agricultural inputs such as seeds, spray pumps, and tools.
In her capacity as Chairperson of the Lango Parliamentary Group, she strengthened bilateral relations between Cuba and Uganda, earning international recognition from the Vice President of Cuba.
Hon. Judith Alyek has consistently executed her parliamentary responsibilities by representing her electorate, engaging in legislation, budget appropriation, and oversight of government programs.
Above all, Hon. Judith Alyek is a true believer in God and a God-fearing person. She has supported numerous churches and mosques without discriminating against any religion.
