Wests Tigers Player Charged with Murder of Underworld Figure
A Wests Tigers junior player, Masei Tavui, has been charged in connection with the murder of Dejan ‘Danny the Serb’ Radulovic in the inner west of Sydney. The incident occurred on July 29, and Tavui, aged 19, was arrested and taken into custody at the Liverpool Police Station. He has been charged with one count of murder.
The alleged murder took place following an altercation on Donnelly Street in Balmain, where Radulovic was reportedly stabbed and shot by two men. On Tuesday morning, the New South Wales (NSW) Police executed a raid at a residence in Austral, seizing clothing items deemed relevant to their ongoing investigation. Subsequently, Tavui was apprehended and placed in custody.
Tavui was denied bail and appeared in a committal hearing at the Liverpool Local Court. Another individual has also been charged in connection with the murder and is currently facing court proceedings.
Masei Tavui has been associated with the Wests Tigers junior ranks for the past four years, having progressed through their Harold Matthews and SG Ball teams. He played as a back-rower in the under-19s competition last year.
Radulovic, the victim of this incident, had been released from prison earlier in the year after serving a nine-month sentence for drug supply. In response to Radulovic’s death, the NSW Police established Strike Force Dears and continue their investigation into the matter.
