As the 2026 general election approaches, Northern Youth MP Hon. Okot Boniface has begun an irreversible journey to become the next MP of Kole South constituency, aiming to unseat the current MP, Hon. Ocen Akalo.

To kickstart his campaign, at the beginning of this month, Hon. Okot held consultative meetings with all key stakeholders of the constituency to ensure no categories of voters are left out. From the LC1 leaders, women, youth, PWDS, older persons, cultural and religious leaders, there was unanimous acceptance of his candidacy for the MP seat in Kole South, citing alleged weaknesses in the current leadership, which they deem non-developmental.

Okot has played a significant role in the reinstatement of the Youth Livelihood Fund and the ringfencing of 30% for the youth under the PDM while serving as Chairperson of the Parliamentary Youth Forum.

In an exclusive interview with our reporter at Kole district headquarters earlier this week, Okot confirmed that during his student days, he ran for guild president at Makerere University while pursuing his Engineering degree. He was active in the student guild parliament and served as a minister throughout his university years.

Above all, Hon. Boniface Okot emphasized that key issues such as youth welfare, support for orphans and widows, road network improvement within Kole district, provision of clean water sources, and equal distribution of government projects to beneficiaries in Kole South will be central to his agenda.

He assured all the people of Kole district, especially his supporters, that he will be on the ballot in the 2026 general election as an MP contesting under the NRM party ticket to join the 12th Parliament of Uganda. Okot expressed confidence in winning the forthcoming election in 2026 with a significant margin.

James, a 38-year-old voter and member of Hon. Okot Boniface’s political team, who spoke on condition of anonymity, predicted that Okot would win with over 80 percent of the vote in 2026.
