In a bold move to address unemployment and poverty among Uganda’s youth, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has launched industrial skilling hubs across various regions of the country. These hubs offer beneficiaries free training, including accommodation, aimed at equipping them with practical skills for the job market.

The initiative, overseen by State House Comptroller Jane Barekye, has garnered attention for its comprehensive approach to youth empowerment. Barekye’s assistant, Engineer Sewava, who also serves as the head of political mobilization in the Office of the Minister of the Presidency, has urged both Parliament and the general public to recognize the President’s commitment to skilling the youth as a strategy for eradicating poverty and reducing unemployment.

Engineer Sewava has called on the Speaker of Parliament to lead a delegation to visit the skilling hubs in northern Uganda. This visit, he suggested, would help dispel concerns over the allocation and use of State House funds and demonstrate how these resources are being utilized to benefit young people across the country.

The call comes at a time when questions have been raised about government spending, and Engineer Sewava believes such a visit would provide transparency and encourage further support for the President’s youth-focused programs.
