On October 9th, Ugandans worldwide marked the 61st anniversary of their country’s independence. In Uganda, the national celebrations were hosted in Kitgum district, Northern Uganda, graced by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
In South Africa, the Ugandan community gathered at the Uganda High Commission in Pretoria for a meaningful celebration of Uganda’s 61st Independence Day.
During the event, Honorable Kakuru Philip, the representative of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in South Africa, addressed the attendees. He stressed the importance of striving for economic liberation in Uganda and across Africa. Honorable Kakuru urged Ugandans in South Africa to leverage the occasion to advance the NRM government’s agenda for socio-economic transformation, which would promote business growth.
He emphasized the commitment of NRM in South Africa to seek opportunities, generate employment, and expand markets for Ugandan products, aligning with the socio-economic development goals of Uganda.
The Ambassador of Uganda in South Africa expressed gratitude to Honorable Philip Kakuru for uniting the Ugandan community in South Africa in their efforts to foster socio-economic transformation in Uganda and Africa.
The celebrations in South Africa also witnessed the presence of ambassadors and prominent business figures from various countries. Ugandans living in South Africa continue to create business and investment opportunities that benefit their homeland, Uganda.
