Sheema district, originally a part of greater Bushenyi, has a strong political history that has influenced Ugandan politics throughout the precolonial, colonial, and post-independence eras. Noteworthy individuals who were staunch supporters of the UPC under Dr. Obote, such as Hon Rwakasisi, Hon Rurangaranga, Prof Kamuntu, and Sir Richard Kaijuka, played pivotal roles in the social and economic development of the region even before the NRM era.

Given this background, Sheema district is known for its absence of opposition, strategic positioning, and willingness to collaborate with any government that presents a clear agenda. The younger generation in Sheema has embraced the lessons of their elders, focusing on constructive development and avoiding reactionary opposition, which has turned the district into a model of political, social, and economic progress. Prominent former UPC supporters like Prof Kamuntu Ephraim, Sir Richard Kaijuka, and Hon Rwakasisi have strategically aligned with the mass NRM movement to support the social and economic transformation agenda.

Today, the people of Sheema join the national and international call to embrace the MK Movement, which advocates for consolidating peace and security in the country while promoting the revolutionary agenda under the leadership of Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who is seen as the presidential candidate for 2026 and beyond.

Eng Raymond Kamugisha, a respected Director of Presidential Industrial Hubs and a prominent member of the MK Movement, has organized the MK Movement Kasiki event on October 27, 2023, at Kabwohe Stadium in Sheema. This event aims to unite the Sheema District and Greater Bushenyi in support of the MK Movement. Notably, Sheema previously had well-established structures for the Team Chairman of the MK Movement, and other teams were actively mobilizing.

Eng Raymond Kamugisha’s initiative is expected to strengthen support for the MK Movement and encourage more individuals in the greater Bushenyi region to join the movement. Their mission remains resolute: to advance Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s candidacy for the presidency in 2026, and they consider this mission unstoppable.
