On Saturday, Minister Amongi, who oversees Gender, Labour, and Social Development, was in the area to conduct a consultative tour and commission newly rehabilitated boreholes.

During her visit, Minister Amongi declared her intention to contest for the Lira City Woman Member of Parliament seat in the upcoming elections.

In her address, Minister Amongi outlined her vision for wealth creation in Lira City, focusing on empowering youth, women, and men through economic opportunities. She assured the residents of Anai Ward that an affordable loan scheme with a 5% interest rate would be implemented, and that local leaders would play a crucial role in identifying beneficiaries.
Minister Amongi further emphasized her commitment to the people of Lira City by confirming her intention to reside full-time in the city.
