"Burora's current woes should send a clear message to all that there are no safe zones in a sinking boat! A while ago as Assistant Resident City Commissioner, he justified and defended many of the excesses of the regime and turned those of us trying to change things into a punching bag. " - Bobi Wine

Bobi Wine, the President of Uganda’s largest opposition party, the National Unity Platform (NUP), has spoken out about the recent arrest of former Assistant Resident City Commissioner (RCC) Anderson Burora. Wine’s comments come in response to Burora’s detention, which he attributes to Burora’s outspoken criticism of corruption involving Anita Among, the Speaker of Parliament.

Details of the Arrest

Burora was arrested and detained for speaking out against corruption. He was eventually remanded based on what Bobi Wine describes as a “defective charge-sheet.” Wine condemned this as a witch-hunt and persecution of those who dare to challenge corruption and misrule.

He pointed out that Burora, in his former role as Assistant RCC, had previously defended the regime’s actions and opposed those seeking change.

Wine emphasized that Burora’s experience should lead him to realize that the blatant abuse of the law will only end when Uganda frees itself from President Museveni’s regime. He called for unity among citizens to fight against corruption and misrule.
