Kampala, Uganda – Ugandan political leader Bobi Wine has expressed his unwavering support for the country’s youth, emphasizing their courage and resolve in fighting against injustice and oppression. In a recent statement, Wine highlighted the determination of young Ugandans, dismissing any attempts to downplay their strength and commitment.

“I disagree with anybody who tries to downplay or belittle the young people of Uganda,” Wine declared. “I have firm belief in their courage and ability to protest against injustice and oppression at any time, on any day. They are not cowards, and they are not weak.”

Wine pointed out the significant challenges faced by the youth under the current regime led by President Yoweri Museveni, whom he described as a “dictatorial monster.” He recalled the events of November 2020, when tens of thousands of young people took to the streets in peaceful protest. The demonstrations, however, ended in tragedy, with over 150 people losing their lives within two days. Wine noted that Museveni referred to the deadly crackdown as merely a “rehearsal.”

Despite the harsh realities, Wine remains optimistic about the future. He stressed the importance of continued efforts by both leaders and citizens to bring about change. “Yes, we must and shall have to do more as leaders and as citizens,” he said. “But we must understand the context. We shall have to strategize, re-strategize, and move forward until the dictator is down.”
