Bobi Wine’s mobilization efforts in Nakasongola District were hindered by heavy police and military deployment, which the opposition leader claims is an attempt to curb the growing momentum of his revolutionary message.

(Kampala) – The police and military forces in Nakasongola District yesterday heavily deployed across the area, halting the opposition leader Bobi Wine’s mobilization activities. The authorities claimed that the disruption was due to the team failing to adhere to established guidelines the day before. However, Bobi Wine’s camp believes this is part of a broader effort by the government to stifle the growing support for their cause.

According to Bobi Wine, the real reason behind the interruption is the momentum his revolutionary movement has been gathering across Uganda. The opposition leader expressed his belief that the government’s response stems from the increasing enthusiasm for his message, particularly after a successful turnout in Buikwe yesterday, which he claims left the regime in a state of panic.

The morning’s development follows weeks of significant activity by Bobi Wine’s mobilization teams. Over the past two weeks, the teams have been spreading their message across Eastern Uganda, particularly in the sub-regions of Sebei, Bugisu, Bukedi, and Busoga. These regions have seen increased efforts in organizing local structures at various levels, aiming to strengthen the opposition’s presence and influence.

In Sebei, Bobi Wine’s team covered Kapchorwa, Kween, and Bukwo districts, while in Bugisu, they reached Mbale City and surrounding districts such as Sironko, Bulambuli, Bududa, Manafwa, and Namisindwa. The mobilization efforts extended into Bukedi, where Pallisa, Busia, Tororo, Butebo, Butaleja, Budaka, and Kibuku were targeted. In Busoga, the campaign touched several districts, including Jinja City, Kamuli, Buyende, Kaliro, Luuka, Mayuge, Iganga, Bugiri, Bugweri, Namutumba, and Namayingo.

Bobi Wine expressed his gratitude towards the mobilization teams and the local leadership for their continued dedication to the cause. As the teams now prepare to move to other regions, he urged the leadership in the Eastern Region to remain united and focused on their responsibilities, emphasizing that every effort counts in the movement for change.

He further encouraged continued organization and mobilization, reinforcing the message of hope and change. The opposition leader also reiterated calls for the release of political prisoners.
