Former presidential candidate and NEED Party President Joseph Kabuleta has openly declared that General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), will never become Uganda’s president.
While speaking at a media briefing, Kabuleta was firm in his belief that the Museveni political era is coming to an end and ruled out any possibility of succession within the first family.
“There will not be a day when Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba is President,” Kabuleta stated, adding, “There will not be an heir to President Museveni. The Museveni dynasty is coming to an end by all means.”
Kabuleta, who once served as a junior pastor at Zoe Ministries before entering active politics, has become a strong voice in the opposition. He has been vocal against what he describes as attempts to create a political monarchy in Uganda through the elevation of Museveni’s son.
His remarks come amid growing public debate and speculation about Uganda’s 2026 elections. Some fortune tellers and political commentators have suggested that President Yoweri Museveni, who has been in power since 1986, may not appear on the ballot. There are even rumors that the NRM party could face major internal divisions, potentially leading to its collapse.
Although these claims remain unverified, they have stirred discussions across the political spectrum about Uganda’s future leadership.
General Muhoozi has in recent years raised eyebrows with political-style tweets and public rallies, fueling speculation about his ambitions. However, critics like Kabuleta maintain that Uganda’s presidency should not be treated as a family inheritance.
As the 2026 elections draw closer, political tensions are expected to rise, with many opposition voices calling for change and greater democratic accountability.
