Kampala Mayor Slams Magistrate Over Burora Charge Sheet

Deputy Lord Mayor Doreen Nyanjura has voiced strong criticism over the remand of former Rubaga and Nakawa Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Anderson Burora. Nyanjura’s concerns stem from what she perceived as a lack of legitimate charges against Burora.

Nyanjura took to social media, posting, “Who is this stupid magistrate that remanded Burora with this type of charge ‘shit’?” She claimed that Burora was remanded without any legitimate charges, a sentiment that sparked considerable public interest and debate.

The charge document against Burora, shared by Nyanjura, details two specific charges under the Computer Misuse (Amended) Act 2022:

The charge sheet, signed by police officer O/ASP Ntono Mildred, accuses Burora of hate speech and sharing malicious information. Specifically, it states that Burora, via his X handle “(ipharderHB),” posted content likely to demean and promote hostility against the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among.
