Kole District, Uganda — October 23, 2025 — Hon. Boniface Okot, the NRM flag bearer for Kole South Constituency, who went unopposed, has been duly nominated to run for the position of Member of Parliament for Kole South in the 2026 general elections.

Okot, popularly known as “the NRM Mugaga,” organized six different rallies across Kole South County in a single day — from midday to 5:00 p.m. — demonstrating both his organizational strength and financial muscle.

Thousands of supporters turned up, vowing to vote for Okot Boniface, the “Mugaga whose hand does not delay in his pocket,” a local expression used to praise his generosity and willingness to spend for the people.

Kole District Returning Officer Niwasiima Rhinny declared Hon. Okot fully nominated at the Kole District Headquarters on October 22, 2025, under the supervision of the Independent Electoral Commission.

There was jubilation and chants of “Team Okot Boniface!” at the Kole Electoral Commission offices on Wednesday morning as Hon. Okot, the incumbent Northern Youth Member of Parliament, was officially confirmed to contest for the Kole South seat.

While addressing the media, MP Okot criticized some leaders in Kole for “bragging in happening places” despite having no tangible achievements on the ground. He emphasized that Kole is still lagging behind in education and pledged to prove to voters that Kole South can be made great again.

Other candidates, including Andrew Awany and Hon. Peter Ocen, were also nominated in Kole District on October 22, 2025.
