The Vice Chairperson of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Kisoro District, Ndikuyeze Ramathan, has called on NRM contestants in the upcoming by-elections to adhere to the 2021-2026 NRM manifesto in order to honor the legacy of the late Minister Sarah Mateke, the former Kisoro Member of Parliament.

This statement was made during an exclusive interview with The Ankole Times, coinciding with the heightened political activity surrounding the by-election for the Woman Member of Parliament representative for the NRM flag bearer.

Ndikuyeze advised NRM aspirants to follow the party manifesto as a way to gain support from voters in the limited time remaining before the 2025 primary elections.

He pointed out that some aspirants are attempting to win voter support through propaganda and rumors, which are not aligned with achievable goals and may hinder their chances in the 2026-2031 general elections.

He also urged the electorate to vote for capable leaders who can deliver development to their communities, emphasizing that accepting bribes is unethical and contrary to NRM rules and regulations.

Meanwhile, Bufumbira East Member of Parliament James Nsaba Buturo encouraged aspirants to uphold the constitution of the NRM by avoiding misleading and defamatory tactics against their opponents during joint campaigns.

He expressed concern that some candidates are resorting to “dirty politics” to gain voter support, which tarnishes the image of the NRM. Nsaba Buturo reaffirmed that the NRM is a united family committed to friendly and clean politics.
